Spiced Nut Mix

We need to have a healthier mid-day or late-night snack during the holidays. Many times when people go through seasonal depression they reach for comfort food when they aren’t even hungry to fill a void. The problem with this is that we often feel guilty after we binge on something that comforts us that is full of sugar and carbs.

I found this recipe for a spiced nut mix ( I changed it up a bit) for when I feel like munching mid-day or when I am up late. It is packed with protein and other nutrients that fill us up and satisfy the salt and sugar cravings.

Nuts are full of healthy fats, protein, and minerals such as Magnesium, phosphorus, copper, manganese and are high in selenium. Minerals that are essential to our health can only obtain through our diet. Selenium is important for metabolism and thyroid function.

A couple of handfuls will do the trick, guilt-free and the protein will help you to sleep without nightmares,(sugary snacks can trigger nightmares).
